Springfield, MA…Six individuals or families from the past and present of western Massachusetts have been selected as the 2001 inductees into the Western Massachusetts Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame.  The announcement was made by Springfield Technical Community College President Andrew M. Scibelli, and Alfred L. Griggs, President of A.L. Griggs Industries in Northampton, and chairman of the Hall of Fame steering committee.  The Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame was established in October 2000 at the Springfield Enterprise Center in the STCC Technology Park.

In making the announcement, Scibelli said, "Entrepreneurship is varied in application.  The Class of 2001 represents family business involvement and growth as well as individual vision.  The common thread running among all these inductees is a long-term business vision and civic commitment that has benefited many communities in Western Massachusetts."

The inductees will be honored at the second annual Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame dinner, to be held at the Log Cabin Banquet and Meeting House on October 11, 2001.  As part of the evening's festivities, BusinessWest, the business journal of western Massachusetts and a sponsor of the dinner, will present its 2001 Top Entrepreneur Award to the owners of Concourse Communications.  Also to be presented at the dinner are four County Achievement awards and two Youth Entrepreneur awards.

Tickets for the entrepreneurship banquet are available from the STCC Foundation.  Proceeds from the dinner will benefit youth entrepreneurship programs offered through the STCC Entrepreneurial Institute.
